South Carolina BlueCross to Offer Discounted Cosmetic Dentistry Program
COLUMBIA, S.C., BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and BlueChoice HealthPlan will add cosmetic dentistry to their discount programs for members beginning in September. This program is the first of its kind in South Carolina. BlueCross BlueShield and BlueChoice HealthPlan members will simply present their insurance ID card when they visit a participating cosmetic dental provider. Members will receive rates of 20 percent less than the typical charges from these in-network dentists.
The network currently includes dentists in Charleston, Spartanburg and Columbia and is expected to expand to other South Carolina cities soon. "Incorporating cosmetic dentistry into our suite of value-added programs reflects our ongoing commitment to help members look their best and feel their best," said David Boucher, BlueCross assistant vice president for healthcare services. Discounted procedures include bonding, cosmetic bridges, cosmetic crowns, cosmetic fillings, implants, veneers and tooth whitening.
This program will be offered in partnership with TruVision, a service that offers cosmetic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, LASIK, contact lenses and hearing aids under discount programs through health plans. Other discount programs available through BlueCross and BlueChoice are vision, hair restoration, weight loss, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, day spas, fitness centers, vitamins and supplements.
